Dorsey Standish is the Chief Mindfulness Officer of Mastermind, a Dallas-based gym for your brain. Dorsey is a mechanical engineer, neuroscientist, and wellness expert who brings evidence-based mindfulness meditation to clients nationwide. Dorsey has shared science-based mindfulness solutions with hundreds of companies, including Staples, Deloitte, United Way, Peloton, and Pier 1. Dorsey’s teachings draw on her training as a teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through Brown University and her deep experience on regular seven-day silent meditation retreats studying with master teachers.
Dr. John Gasko is the Chief Well-Being Officer at Uplift Education, the DFW Metroplex’s largest and highest performing public charter school district. Dr. Gasko has traveled the country and the globe to study mindful leadership techniques with a variety of physicians, scientists, and wisdom teachers—including the Chief of Primary Care at UChicago Medicine, UMASS Medical School’s Jon Kabat-Zinn, and the Boston Trauma Center’s Bessel Van Der Kolk. Dr. Gasko currently is only one of 15 global, certified Be Well Lead Well Pulse coaches and has recently been selected to participate in one of the world’s most prestigious and rigorous human performance coaching programs, the Flow Genome Project. Dr. Martin Lumpkin is our Mindfulness Godfather, bringing four decades of mindfulness expertise, which provides a rich history of how mindfulness can impact and improve our mental and physical health. Dr. Lumpkin has served as a professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction as part of the Clinical Psychology curriculum, and he has incorporated mindfulness based approaches into is own psychology practice since 2002. Regarded as one of our region’s top mindfulness experts, Dr. Lumpkin began learning mindfulness practices in 1982 with Joseph Goldstein in a retreat hosted by the Insight Meditation Society (one of the premiere organizations teaching mindfulness meditation). He also studied MBSR over several training periods provided by Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of Mindfulness Based Stress-Reduction and the Center for Mindfulness staff. Dr. Lumpkin is the author of Into The Music of The World: Living Life Mindfully, published in 2015. For decades, Dr. Lumpkin has taught an Introduction to Mindfulness Seminar for the public which is offered on a regular basis at Mastermind.
A former pediatrician who completed her undergraduate and medical training at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Bagley’s medical career focused on providing healthcare to the underserved through city services, a tertiary care center, and a community health center. In 2010, Adrianne gave up her medical practice and shifted her focus on serving others promoting healthy bodies and minds through wellness practice and fitness. Dr. Bagley completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program at Duke Integrative Medicine, one our nation’s premier educational centers for integrative health and healing. Adrianne enjoys sharing mindfulness with others and is committed to empowering others to use this and other practices to create a personal wellness program that enables ownership of their health and wellness.
As a certified meditation and mindfulness leader, Veleisa leverages her knowledge of the science and principles of wellness to inspire her students to reduce mental clutter and find more space to ‘be' instead of ‘do.’ A longtime meditation practitioner and advocate, she received her certification for science-based mindfulness from Mastermind in 2020. When she’s not leading mindfulness and yoga classes, Veleisa advises DFW businesses as the founder and CEO of Narrative Evolution Communications. Veleisa is an alum of SMU, and holds a Masters in Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Dr. Lisa Coleman is a certified mindfulness facilitator, 500-hour registered yoga teacher, and English Professor Emeritus at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. A lifelong learner and teacher, Lisa chose mindfulness certification through Mastermind due to its emphasis on neuroscience and the mind-body health benefits accrued through meditation. Lisa’s love of sharing mindfulness and yoga with others arises from the still center of acceptance and non-judgment that both practices share. Lisa is a Dallas-Fort Worth native and holds a BA in French and an MA and PhD in Humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Poonam Desai, PhD, LSSP is a Certified Instructor of Mindfulness through Mindful Schools, with more than 300 hours of training completed. She has maintained a personal practice for over 10 years and has completed six 10-day meditation retreats in addition to several other shorter retreats. Dr. Desai is a licensed psychologist and a licensed specialist in school psychology in the state of Texas. She has worked in the fields of education and mental health for the past nine years, with a particular area of interest in mindfulness and social-emotional learning. She is currently a mental health trainer and psychologist at Momentous Institute. She believes mindfulness and compassion are the two things that will change the world, but also that the first revolution is always internal.
A corporate sales expert and Regional Vice President with Capital One, Jertonya Feemster began her meditation journey in 2018 and quickly saw the connection between her daily meditation practice and her mental and physical health. Jertonya avidly believes in the power of positive perspectives and understands that our brain is our most powerful tool for living a healthy, happy life. Since receiving her certification in science-based mindfulness with Mastermind in 2020, Jertonya has led national mindfulness sessions for Capital One and supported private coaching clients in manifesting growth and development. Jertonya has two beautiful children and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Letourneau University.
As a researcher and meditation practitioner, Lyndahl Himes has combined her love for neuroscience with her desire to promote general well-being. An accomplished scientist who has published research on understanding the relationship between mood, emotional reactivity, and mindfulness, Lyndahl holds a B.S. in Neuroscience and a M.S. in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is currently working on her Ph.D., studying the neural mechanisms of mindfulness meditation. Findings from her work support theories that mindfulness helps with emotion regulation during stress-induced emotions, resulting in less reactive emotions and greater resiliency. Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Lyndahl is examining the differences in the brains of non-meditators and experienced mindfulness-meditators. Lyndahl’s work embodies the Mastermind brand, reframing mindfulness as conditioning tool to for the brain that help us live healthier, happier lives.
Amy Lewis Hofland is the Senior Director of the Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas, Texas, the preeminent museum dedicated to the arts and cultures of Asia in the southern United States. In addition to her work at the Crow Museum, Amy is a noted author, speaker and community leader serving on various board leadership positions in the Dallas-Fort Worth community. Amy is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher and a soon-to-be graduate of the two-year Sounds True Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.
Cheryl King first encountered meditation in 1990 as an undergraduate student at SMU and she was hooked. Not long after that she made her first trip to Thailand for a cultural immersion. A lifelong student and longtime teacher, Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religious Studies and a Masters in British Literature from Southern Methodist University. She teaches Literature at Richland College and is working on her MBSR certification. She finds passion and purpose in practicing ways to greater sustain a connection to self and each another.
Nicole Payseur was an attorney who took her practice off the mat and into the court room. She began to breathe with her opponents to tip the scales of justice and win settlements for the City of New York. Nicole has since retired from her law days and has dedicated her time to teaching mindfulness. For the past 10 years, she has been teaching for humanity. Doing her due diligence, she meticulously amassed over 1,500 hours of independent study all over Manhattan, Dallas, New Orleans and San Francisco from the Iyengar Institute to Integral Yoga Center before completing Yoga Works’ 500 hour teacher training program. Her latest yoga certification adds 500 hours of Yoga Therapy to a wealth of knowledge. Her teachings provide innovative solutions to stress and reframing life challenges. Her students discover untapped resources in their bodies and minds. Mischief inspires her. Laughter, better than anything else, coaxes the body into radiant health, strength and grace.
Alexis Ray, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD, RYT is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Mindfulness Facilitator, and Registered Yoga Teacher. A longtime practitioner and advocate of mindful living, Alexis received her certification for science-based mindfulness from Mastermind in 2020. Alexis credits lessons learned on her yoga mat and meditation cushion for supporting her in nurturing relationships with herself and others, and in cultivating a healthy mind and body. Alexis is particularly passionate about mindful eating, which has changed her relationship with food. The more she incorporates mindfulness and mindful eating with her clients, she sees how these transformative practices can impact other people's lives too. Alexis holds a M.S. in Exercise and Sports Nutrition from Texas Women’s University and a B.S. in Nutritional Science from Texas A&M.
Denae Richards is a certified sound practitioner focusing on sound healing therapy and vibroacoustic therapy. Her sound healing sessions include gongs, crystal bowls, Tibetan healing bowls and many more therapeutic instruments. She is drawn to the power of different sounds & frequencies because of their power for healing the body on many levels: emotional, spiritual and physical. As the owner of her own Holistic Sounds practice, Denae is an expert in marrying the art and science of sound meditation. Mari Woodlief is a founder of Mastermind. Mari decided to learn meditation as a New Year’s resolution in 2015. After a short time working one-on-one with a coach, she discovered the life-changing effects of mindfulness and meditation and wanted to find a way to not only deepen her own practice, but also make mindfulness more accessible in a science-driven, secular environment. The Mastermind concept was created to fit the needs of mindfulness practitioners like Mari, who want a structured, data based mindfulness program in a convenient class environment. In addition to her commitment to Mastermind, Mari also works as CEO of Allyn Media, one of our region’s largest public relations and public affairs firms. She is recognized as one of the “Top 25 Most Influential Women in Business” by the Dallas Business Journal, the has been named in the Dallas 500 most powerful business leaders in DFW by D CEO and has been profiled on KERA’s CEO with Lee Cullum.
Jennifer Pascal is co-founder of Mastermind. She believes mindfulness-meditation can cultivate self-awareness and compassion, which makes for stronger leaders, and that mindfulness-meditation stress reduction can help people with illnesses like cancer and heart disease manage depression, anxiety, anger and other mood disturbances. She is proud to bring an accessible, science-driven, mindful meditation resource to her hometown of Dallas. Jennifer also is co-owner and chief operating office of Allyn Media, one of our region’s largest, locally-based public relations and public affairs firms. She is a member of UT Dallas Development Board and coaches YMCA youth basketball.
