Jon Kabat Zinn, the founder of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program, says that parenting is “the hardest job in the world to do well, and most of the time you don’t even know whether you are doing well, or even what that means.” Being a parent is a lifelong commitment, full of countless challenges and unconditional love. When we apply the practice of mindfulness to parenting, we learn how to pause and bring conscious awareness to each and every moment we spend with our children.
In Mindful Parenting, we’ll explore how we can use science-backed mindfulness to train our brains to respond to the challenges of parenthood with self-compassion and equanimity, rather than reacting in a habitual or judgmental way. By being fully present with our children, we discover all that they can teach us. With mindfulness practice, we learn how to nurture ourselves, and in turn we are able to nurture our children to grow and develop qualities of independence and resilience.
